The PREPARE Study

Preparing for Equitable Implementation of Multi-Cancer Early Detection Blood Tests.
We are a team of dedicated researchers from Cardiff University, Queen Mary University of London, University of Southern Denmark and lay representatives exploring the communication and information needs of the public, patients, healthcare providers and policy makers regarding multi-cancer early detection (MCED) blood tests.
As people who have had advanced cancer or care for those who have had a cancer diagnosis, we are only too aware of the importance of the early diagnosis.  We think a multi-cancer early detection blood test could be an important step forward to encourage people who are reluctant to take up the existing standard screening tests or who are afraid of unpleasant diagnostic tests; especially for those living in areas of significant health, cultural and socio-economic deprived communities where engagement and support with health care teams is lacking.

We really hope that with the appropriate information and communication, when, and if, these tests come into use, they will make a real difference to improve early screening uptake. We really look forward to taking part in this research.
